IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Fabian
Alexander
April 13, 1956 – January 19, 2026
Elder Fabian Alexander was born on April 13, 1956, in Chicago, Il to the late Elder Claude Emmanuel, Sr. and Sadie Alice Alexander. Fabian received his high school diploma at Joliet Central High School in Joliet, Il. Fabian met his loving wife, Dorothy Jean (Adams) Alexander, at a school function at Joliet Central High School in 1974. The two began a courtship and were married on August 30, 1975. From this union, nine daughters were born.
Fabian attended and served Fellowship Church of God and Christ under the late Bishop Leonard D. Rimpson, Sr. in 1975, where he accepted Christ as his savior. He served as a minister and choir director. Fabian opened his home and welcomed many who were in need to his table. If he had it, he would give it. Often, Fabian would feed the children in the neighborhood who were hungry.
Fabian began his career at a young age, starting at Caterpillar as a forklift operator, then he moved on to Illinois State Penitentiary in Joliet as a cook. Afterwards, Fabian became a community resource officer, then a security officer for Joliet Housing Authority. He then took on a second job as a cook at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
Fabian's greatest love was buying cars that needed extensive repairs. He loved to fix them. With a bag full of tools, he would grab one or two of his girls and head to the junk yard. He believed his daughters should know about car repair and maintenance. Often, they would assist with oil changes, tune-ups, repairing flat tires, and brake jobs. His second love was traveling. Every year, he would pack up the car (including toilet paper and bologna sandwiches) and drive for many, many hours to places like Massachusetts, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Missouri, and his favorite, the State Fair.
Fabian made his transition on January 19, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude, Jr., and Sadie Alexander; his stepmother, Thelma Alexander; and his sister, Pamela Alexander. He will forever be cherished by Dorothy Alexander, his loving wife of 50 years; daughters Doreice (Carl) Burse, LaFayia Kay (Alphonso) Barnum, Sadie (Keno) McKnight, Emma Smith, Victoria (Robert) Dorsey, Sandra (Walter) Greene, Sue Alexander, Tina (partner Ted Campbell) Alexander, and Toni Alexander, special mention, nephews Claude Alexander III and Oscar Alexander; three sisters Margaret (Abe) Stiggers, Mary (Tyrone) Duckworth, Jacqueline Alexander; two brothers; Kenneth (Julia) Alexander and Claude (Linda) Alexander, Jr.; sister-n-law Ella (Samuel) Smith and brother-n-law Eddie Adams; uncle Dennis Alexander and aunt Mary Gadsen; and grandchildren Simone, Breanna, Travion, Tommie, Shemaih, Nathaniel, Keno, Na'keenia, Eve, Emilie, Eugene, Isis, Robert, Trinity, Jonah, Knowledge, Hezekiyah, BreAsia, Antonio, Jordan, Liliana, Ted, and Claire; and host of family and friends.
