MICHLEEN LUCILE
(AVERKAMP) BISHOP
Jan 12, 1973 — Oct 28, 2026
It is with broken hearts that, after battling a brief illness, we announce the passing of our beloved sister Michleen. Micki’s loved ones were certainly not prepared to say goodbye so soon and there will be a tremendous void where Micki’s larger than life energy once resided. She was a woman of many talents and an even bigger heart.
Micki was born to Joseph and Donna Averkamp on January 12, 1973, in Oshkosh WI. She attended Oshkosh West and then became a caregiver and a nanny to a very special family.
Beyond high school she spent time in Arizona before returning to Oshkosh to obtain her cosmetology license. Micki excelled at making all her clients feel beautiful and her years behind the chair showcased her talents and passion for her trade.
Micki then relocated with family to Illinois where she was a loud and proud Packer fan in the middle of Bear country.
Micki was very well known for the energy that she poured into all the fitness classes that she taught for the past 30+ years. Her motivation was loud, contagious and most of all – fun.
Another beautiful dimension to Micki’s life was that for the past several years, she was a personal caregiver for many elderly clients. Families of those she served have expressed their gratitude for her dedication and most of all, the compassion she showed their loved ones.
Left behind to mourn her passing are Maya & Helena Bishop. Micki cherished her beautiful daughters and spoke of them often with immense love and great pride.
She was also deeply loved and will be missed by her longtime partner, Eddie Johnson of Plainfield, IL. Together they shared a loving home with the best four-legged companion, Giovanni.
Micki’s family will feel this profound loss for years to come. Already missed beyond measure by her siblings Dale Averkamp & longtime partner Viann, Dean & Cheryl Averkamp, Dan & Lisa Averkamp, Kathleen & Jeff Olson, Doug & Beth Averkamp, Dewy & Pam Averkamp, Dave Averkamp & special friend Connie, and Joleen & Erik Anderson. Her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, in which there are too many to list, have always held a special place in Micki’s heart.
The family also wishes to acknowledge and extend our sincere gratitude to Britny & John Beckwith for their support during this very difficult time.
Celebration of Life will be conducted at a later date.
