IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Quinton Leshun
Pipkins
July 5, 1980 – March 20, 2024
OBITUARY
Quinton LeShun Pipkins was born on July 5, 1980, in Chicago, IL at Mount Sinai Hospital, to the loving union of Percy and Sabrina Pipkins. Quinton was the cherished second child of two children.
Quinton's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and passions. From his early years at Rosewell B. Mason Elementary School and Hawthorne Scholastic Academy (where he graduated), to his high school days at Farragut Career Academy and Crane High School, Quinton showed a remarkable enthusiasm for education and sports. It was on the basketball court where he thrived, playing alongside future NBA star Kevin Garnett and his closest friend and brother, Micheal Wright (deceased). Basketball was his passion, but he enjoyed all sports. He also loved watching team sports with his Father and sons.
After receiving his diploma from Crane High School, Quinton continued his journey at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, before embarking on a 12-year career with Ferrero (formerly known as Nestle). Quinton's commitment to his work was surpassed only by his devotion to his family. He enjoyed barbecuing for his family and friends, playing cards with his wife as his partner, taking family trips, and having family outings whenever and wherever. He was a loving husband to Latrice English and a proud father to their six children: Dominique, Santino, Heavyn, Jourdan, Morgan, and Kennedi. Quinton's impact extended far beyond his immediate family. He was deeply involved in his community, serving as a mentor, coach, and friend to countless individuals. He was assistant coach with his daughter's AAU team as well as coached for the community's youth teams.
Whether he was coaching youth basketball teams at Mason Westside Classic or being involved with the 4200 block parties where he volunteered for the back-to-school youth and community events, Quinton's generosity and compassion knew no bounds. Quinton accepted Christ at a very early age. Quinton's faith was a cornerstone of his life, nurtured through his upbringing at True Light COGIC where his mom took him to church under the guidance of Pastor James Thurston and United Worship Center under Pastor Micheal Thurston. His belief in the power of community and service was evident in everything he did.
Quinton LeShun Pipkins, age 43, passed away at home unexpectedly and peacefully on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, in Bolingbrook, IL. He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandparents, Grover and Essie Glispie and paternal Grandparents, Percy and India Pipkins. He was also preceded in death by his uncles, Argusta Glispie, Steve Glispie, and Melvin Glispie.
Quinton will be deeply missed by his parents, Percy and Sabrina Pipkins; sister, Anneice LeShae (Charles); niece, Cilver; nephews, Xavier and Alex; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Deborah English and Kevin Hardison; grandmother-in-law, Barbara Scott; uncles, Grover Glispie, Keith Glispie, Ronald (Terrica) Pipkins, and Vonzell Glispie; aunties, Georgia Harvey (Reid), Elaine Glispie, Aleshia Glispie, and Tiffany (Terraz) Pipkins; sisters-in-laws, Latonya, Tameka, Jodara, and Khadijah; and a multitude of cousins, extended family members, and friends and coworkers.
Though Quinton's physical presence may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire us all to live with love, compassion, and dedication to others.
